Kochi, Kovalam and Thekkady Tour Overview

Munnar is a town in the Western Ghats mountain range in India’s Kerala state. A hill station and former resort for the British Raj elite, it's surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations established in the late 19th century. Eravikulam National Park, a habitat for the endangered mountain goat Nilgiri tahr, is home to the Lakkam Waterfalls. Thekkady is the location of the Periyar National Park, which is an important tourist attraction in the Kerala state of India. Alappuzha (or Alleppey) is a city on the Laccadive Sea in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It's best known for houseboat cruises along the rustic Kerala backwaters, a network of tranquil canals and lagoons. Kovalam is a small coastal town in the southern Indian state of Kerala, south of Thiruvananthapuram. At the southern end of Lighthouse Beach is a striped lighthouse with a viewing platform. Palm-backed beaches also include Hawa Beach and Samudra Beach.

Kochi, Kovalam and Thekkady Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Upon arrival at Cochin, our representative will meet you on exit gate of station or airport and will transfer you to your prebooked hotel. Later after rest start visiting Cochin: Fort Cochin, Navy museum, St. Francis Church, Chinese fishing nets, Santa Cruz Basilica, Mattanchery palace, Jewish synagogue, Marine drive, Marine walk way, boating, Tripunitura Hill palace. You can find some time for shopping at Cochin, Back to hotel in evening. Dinner at hotel or restaurant on your own optional.
Day 2
Upon arrival at Cochin Airport, Meet our representative who will transfer you to Munnar. A pleasing 03:00 hrs journey riding through the picturesque hills jacketed in greenish tea and spice plantations. The cab will stop in many of the places on the way to enjoy the beautiful nature, waterfalls and sceneries. MUNNAR is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. 1600 mts above sea level, the hill station was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. Sprawling tea plantations, pristine valleys, mountains and aroma of spice scented cool air make Munnar is a resort town. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji, this flower blooms once in every twelve years. Day 3
After breakfast proceed to sightseeing at Munnar. Visit Eravikulam National Park at Rajamala (Here you can see the NilgiriThar), Echo Point, Mattupetty Lake and Dam, Tea Plantations and TATA Tea processing Factory, Kundale Lake, Anayirankal Dam, Gap Point etc. Dinner at hotel or restaurant on your own optional

Day 4
After breakfast, drive to Thekkady. A scenic 03:00 hrs drive from Munnar. The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spices scented plantations. In the Periyar Forest of Thekkady is one of the finest wild life reserves in India, and spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks.
On arrival check in at Hotel and after fresh up visit spice market and spice plantations. Here you can see the Pepper, Cardamom, Vanilla, Cinnamon and other spices are grown.
Note :- Optional activities like; Boating at Periyar Lake, Bullock cart ride, Bamboo Rafting, Trekking, Elephant safari, Spice Plantation Tour, Border Hiking, Tribal Village Visit, Cloud Walk, Periyar Tiger Trail, KalariPayattu (A traditional martial Art), Kathakali Show (A traditional performance-Art), Jungle Jeep Safari and Ayurveda Massages etc.. Day 5
After early breakfast proceeding to ALLEPPEY: (The Venice of the East) is a district of immense natural beauty, caressed by the Arabian Sea in the west and a vast network of Lakes, Lagoons and freshwater rivers criss-crossing the backwater county.
On arrival check-in at Houseboat cruise Alleppey round (a luxury boat made in ethnic Kerala style having well-appointed sitting room, bedrooms, toilet and kitchen) enjoy the tranquil beauty of the inland waters and the countryside for one day.
Houseboat Cruise at ALLEPPEY through narrow canals ~ Pathiramanal Island ~ Virgin village ~ paddy fields ~ historical places ~ Temples ~ Churches ~ Snake boat ~ Coconut beer shop (Toddy shop) ~ Kuttanad Village etc. Enjoy spectacular lush green paddy fields, where you may enjoy a unique nature, life style of village people and their activities like Coir roping, Toddy tapping etc.
Meals served will be of typical Kerala cuisine. Welcome Drink: Tender Coconut, Lunch: Boiled/Basmati Rice, vegetables, fish fry/curry, salads, Pappad. Evening: Tea / coffee with snacks & Banana Fry. Candle Light Dinner: Rice/Chapathy, Dal Curry, Vegetable Curries and Chicken Curry. Breakfast: Bread with butter, jam & eggs or Kerala style Breakfast (Iddly/Dosa). All meals will be provided in the House Boat. Any changes required will have to be intimated in advance. Pure Vegetarian dishes, Dishes with Less Spicy for European Guest, North Indian Recipes etc. are also known to our Chef.
Guest can also buy fresh Prawn, Crab or any fresh fish during their cruise from fishermen (fresh catch) and our Chef will prepare if for the guest according to their taste without any additional charge.

Day 6
This morning after breakfast at houseboat check out and proceed to KOVALAM, it is internationally renowned beach has been favorite haunt of tourists since 1930's. Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches. The southernmost, known as the -Light House beach- is the most popular.
On arrival check in at beach side hotel and after fresh up proceed to Trivandrum city sightseeing. Visit PadmanabhaSwamy Temple: This temple is located inside the East Fort. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the Temple is a blend of the Kerala and Dravidian styles of architecture. It is known for its mural paintings and stone carving. (Dress Code: DHOTHY for men and SAREE for women). The Zoological Park: (10.00am to 6.15 pm- Closed on Mondays). One of the first Zoos in India. It is located in a well-planned Botanical Garden, with huge trees, sprawling lawns and wild fowl swimming in the lakes which feel like a small jungle in the heart of the City. A reptile house with different species of snakes is also located in this premise. Science and Technology Museum Complex: The exhibits here are related to Science, Technology and Electronics.(10.00 AM to 05.00 PM -Closed on Mondays)
Priyadarshiny Planetarium: (Daily shows from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM) Napier Museum & SreeChitra Art Gallery: (10.00 AM to 04.45 PM- Closed on Mondays and Wednesday forenoons) Located near the Napier Museum, this art gallery displays select paintings of RAJA RAVI VARMA, Svetlana and Nicholas Roerich and exquisite works from the Rajput, Mughal and Tanjore schools of art in India. The collection also includes paintings from China, Japan, Tibet and Bali. Finish the sightseeing before 5’ o clock and drive to beach and watch sunset. Dinner at hotel or restaurant on your own in Kovalam optional
